The amount of money you give can always be used towards different costs of a child's education. These costs vary depending on which country we are partnering with. In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the cost of school fees for one child is between US$150 and $200 per school year, depending on which grade the child is in. There are also other necessities which extremely poor children require, such as breakfast and lunch at school, school uniform, books, transportation or supplies. These costs can range from $50 to $100 per year.
Are donations to the Denniston Thomas Foundation tax deductible?Yes, the Denniston Thomas Foundation is a 501(c)(3) registered charity. All donations will receive a tax deductible receipt.
What kind of projects does the Foundation work on?The Denniston Thomas Foundation partners with local organizations that are working with youth on a continuous basis. Our school sponsorship program provides much needed funds for children who would not otherwise be able to afford an education. These children become part of the Denniston Thomas Foundation community, and are followed up on by local people, as well as staff at the Foundation.
What new projects is the Foundation looking to work on?We are currently looking at ways to fund a social and academic center at St. Joseph's Convent Marriaqua in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We would work with hiring and training local Vincentians to fill the posts of school counselor and tutor. This school enrolls children with many problems, ranging from abuse to extreme poverty. The counselor and tutor would be a sustainable way to work with these children.
The country is also in the midst of building its first and only home for abused girls. Sister Patricia Ann Douglas is working with organizations who have donated money to the construction of the building. The Denniston Thomas Foundation is researching funds to provide staffing, and will also be able to provide technical training and support to this new staff.
Larger donations from individuals or organizations could be used to hire new staff, and would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in making a sizeable contribution, please contact the Executive Director at daniellepack@dennistonfoundation.org
What are the geographic boundaries of the Foundation? The Denniston Thomas Foundation is open to working with organizations or schools in any underserved, low-income areas througout the world. If you have a project in mind that needs technical support, please contact us at info@dennistonfoundation.org
